The archipelago of the Aeolian Islands

We at Barcando in particular have been sailing in the Aeolian Islands for over 25 years and know every hidden corner of the islands. Rely on us, we guarantee you a wonderful vacation. The Aeolian Islands archipelago consists of 7 islands plus various islets and reefs. In fact, it is the most beautiful archipelago in the Mediterranean and one of the most beautiful in the world. The inhabited areas, however, are almost all built on the eastern side of each island; this is because it is the side most sheltered from the strong and frequent Mistral winds. In fact you can give anchor in all the bays of the Aeolian Islands and the anchorages are also very simple, only some actually made more difficult by the different and sudden changes in the depth of the seabed but, just inquire beforehand and everything will be much easier. Port facilities in the Aeolian Islands, on the other hand, are located in Lipari, Vulcano, Salina, and Filicudi; Lipari Pignataro and the Aeolian port of Salina are the safest and most sheltered facilities. Panarea and Stromboli also have buoy fields (gavitelli) that are very sheltered from the prevailing winds. The Aeolian Islands always know how to amaze and fascinate making your sailing or catamaran vacation enjoyable. Embark mainly from: Sicily: Capo d’Orlando, Milazzo, Portorosa, Palermo. Calabria: Reggio Calabria, Tropea.

What is the best season to visit the Aeolian Islands?

The best time to plan vacations to the Aeolian Islands is from April to October, although this varies depending on the season. The hottest months are usually July, August and September, but it should not be forgotten that they are also the busiest. So if you are looking for good weather and long sunny days, but don’t want to give up a good dose of tranquility, we particularly recommend leaving in May or June, or after mid-September. Undoubtedly the coldest period involving the Aeolian Islands is from December to March, when temperatures drop to an average of 12°, and days tend to be inevitably more gloomy.
